Richard Pryor (Dec. 1st, 1940 - Dec. 10th, 2005) was born on this day in Peoria, Illinois. Raised in a brothel owned by his grandmother, Richard Pryor tried music as a drummer before his big comedy break on The Ed Sullivan Show and a series of successful, Grammy-winning comedy albums. Richard Pryor also made movies, including Lady Sings The Blues, Uptown Saturday Night, Car Wash, The Bingo Long Travelling All Stars, Greased Ligtning, The Wiz, Stir Crazy, Silver Streak, Harlem Nights and many others.
