Leela James Coming To DC!
Leela James is coming to DC next week. She will be performing at The NAACP Conference in the DC Convention Center Wednesday, July 19th at the Youth Freedom Fund Awards Dinner 7:30pm - 11pm and she will be back in DC again Friday, August 18th performing at Carter Barron.
Leela James debut CD "A Change Is Gonna Come" came out June 20th, 2005. Check out her tracks at her official website: leelajames
Some of her songs that are getting a lot of play on Urban Adult Contemporary Stations right now are "Music," "My Joy," and "When You Love Somebody."
This 28-year-old pint-size South Central, L.A. native has been touring nonstop since her summer 2005 debut. Her live performances are supposed to be off the hook, I have not seen her live yet but I hope to catch her at either of these two events. I really like her unique sound. There is no one out here right now that sounds anything like her or visa-versa.
Check out this on point quote from Ms. James from XXL Presents Hip-Hop Soul Summer 2006 interview conducted by writer Matt Barone:
"People have been spoon-fed processed R&B for so long the grits I'm bringing may be unexpected. It's time that people are fed some authentic goodness." - Leela James.
Two words: Go head! ;)
