Remembering & Celebrating The Lives of Bernie Mac & Isaac Hayes

I was listening Saturday morning to MAJIC 102.3 FM's Alvin John Waples broadcasting live from Radio One's Stone Soul Picnic at RFK when he suddenly announced that news was coming across the wire that The Chicago Defender was reporting that Comedian/Actor Bernie Mac had died.
I was so saddened, shocked and stunned to hear that news, I screamed to the radio, "What?! Noooooo!" I just couldn't believe it.
I heard last weekend that he was admitted to a hospital for pneumonia but I heard later last week that he was expected to be released in 2 to 3 weeks.
As shocking as that news was and much as it just filled my heart with emotions all weekend, it wasn't until Sunday evening when I heard the breaking news that Isaac Hayes had too passed away.
Again, "What?! Noooo!" Two men that I truly love. I love their work and everything they do and have done. Again, I was shocked, stunned and saddened.
I just learned today that Bernie and Issac are in a movie together coming out later this year called Soul Men (November 14th, 2008). Below are some stills from the film.
I am really sending out my thoughts, prayers, and sincere condolences to the families and friends of Bernie Mac and Issac Hayes today and the fans and friends of these outstanding gentlemen.
Peace and Blessings,
~LT
About The Film: 'Soul Men' is about two former backup soul singers Louis (Samuel L. Jackson) and Floyd (Bernie Mac) who travel cross country to perform at a tribute concert in honor of their famous former band leader, played by John Legend. They haven't spoken to each other in 20 years but reluctantly agree to travel together for the tribute performance. Both Jackson and Mac will do their own musical and dance performing in the film.
