Nice Ahmet Ertegun Quote From The Grammys Memorandum Tribute

This quote stayed with me. It is from his interview on The Charlie Rose Show in 2005.

"...Black Music became the music of the world...There's beautiful music in Ireland. There's beautiful music of France, but there is only one music that travels everywhere and that's Black American Music."
--Ahmet Ertegun
Founder/Chairman - Atlantic Records

Rolling Stone Magazine did a wonderful and very informative piece on Ahmet Ertegun in their January 25th Issue called, Ahmet Ertegun - The Greatest Record Man Of All Time by Jann S. Wenner which is now available on-line. It features much of Mr. Ertegun's D.C. history back in the day. It's absolutely amazing. It is the same issue that featured James Brown on the cover titled James Brown Funk's Founding Father. Another great article by Rolling Stone's Gerri Hershey.

Two must-read articles for all music lovers! Peace!
