Donny Hathaway (October 1st, 1945 to January 13th, 1979) Born in Chicago, Ill., Donny Hathaway became an influential Pop and R&B singer in the 1970s with hits that included "The Ghetto", "The Closer I Get To You" with Roberta Flack and many more. He would have been 61 today.

Some of my favorite Donny Hathaway albums are: Everything is Everything (1970), Extension of A Man (1973), A Donny Hathaway Collection (1990).
His daughter, Lalah Hathaway is a contemporary R&B Soul Jazz singer.
Her albums include: Outrun the Sky (2004) [this one includes her rendition of Luther's Forever, For Always, For Love], The Song Lives On w/Joe Sample (1999), A Moment (1994), Lalah Hathaway (1990).
