On The Apprentice Sunday Night: Olympic Gold Medalist Sprinter Michael Johnson
"Michael Johnson: Slaying the Dragon" (1996) Regan Books/Harper Collins - Excerpt: "This is a book about how to identify what you really want and how to get there; to set goals based on realism and confidence; to work with discipline and resolve; to learn from the requisite failures and the too-early successes; to achieve a clarity of focus and a sense of purpose; to stick to your plan; to deal with pressure, thrive on it, and make it your own; to carve away the distractions that slow us all down; and, perhaps most important, to keep going after you lose the biggest race of your life. Because you will. I did several times." -- Michael Johnson
It was good seeing (now retired) Olympic Gold Medalist Sprinter Michael Johnson on The Apprentice Sunday night. Michael Johnson won four Olympic gold medals and was crowned world champion eight times. Watching all the Winter Olympic coverage last month made me wonder what were the latest happenings with MJ. He wrote a book in '96 called "Slaying The Dragon: How To Turn Your Small Steps To Great Feats". A great book filled with great motivational words and personal stories that he shares through his experiences, trials, tribulations, and triumphs over the years. The Foreword is by The Greatest himself, Muhammad Ali. Some of the chapters included are Dreams, Discipline, Disappointment, Perserverence, Pressure and Performance. A great and inspiring read with many life lessons. Had to take it off my bookshelf and read it again this week just because I caught the last half hour of the show and saw him sitting at The Donald's Table! Go, Mike, Go! ~LT
