The Allen Iverson Celebrity Summer Classic 10th Annual - Saturday In Baltimore / Sunday In Prince George's County

United States of America (Press Release) July 10, 2008 -- The Allen Iverson Celebrity Summer Classic (AICSC), in its 10th year of existence, has become one of the summer’s premiere celebrity events that have helped to raise awareness on the needs of some of our inner cities underprivileged youth by bringing high-profile events to the heart of the community. This summer’s main event will be held at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, MD, and will feature a collaboration with Allen’s teammate, friend and Maryland’s own Carmelo Anthony.

The event begins on Friday, July 11, 2008 with an invite only press conference and media reception at the ESPN Zone in Washington, DC. Iverson and his celebrity guests will host this reception for the event’s beneficiaries and members of the media. There will be a presentation of award to this year’s scholarship recipient.

On Saturday, July 12, 2008, Allen Iverson will be a special guest at Carmelo Anthony’s 3-on-3 Hood Movement Challenge in Baltimore, MD.

On Sunday, July 13, 2008, Allen will host “Dream Day at the Park” for the entire family to enjoy on the lawn of the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex beginning at 2pm.

Immediately following Dream Day (approx. 5pm) will be the weekend’s main event;
The Allen Iverson Flag Football Exhibition with Carmelo Anthony. This event will feature a few Iverson’s friends from the National Football League, DeAngelo Hall (Oakland Raiders), Larry Johnson (Kansas City Chiefs), Nate Burleson (Seattle Seahawks), Marques Hagans (St. Louis Rams) and friends from the world of entertainment, Nelly, MoNique, Lil Mo and others.

Advanced tickets to the Flag Football Exhibition are $12. Tickets $15 the day of the event. Tickets are available online at www.crossover-promotions.com and at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex: Wed-Fri. 6pm-9pm; Saturday 10am-5pm; Sunday (game day) all day beginning at 10am.
The Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex is located at 8001 Sheriff Road in Landover, MD.

The proceeds of this event will benefit the Allen Iverson Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund. The Allen Iverson Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund is an initiative which benefits students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Thus far scholarships have been endowed at St. Augustine's College, Johnson C. Smith University and Bowie State University.

Other Notable News
Last month, with a gift of $100,000, Allen Iverson established at endowment with the Peninsula Community Foundation of Virginia, Inc. to support local youth initiatives. In the spirit of the Youth Promise Act, legislation sponsored by Congressman Bobby Scott of Newport News, Iverson will focus future charitable gifts from his endowment toward supporting local programs which encourage youth to stay in school, and prevent gang and drug involvement. The endowment will support another Gun Buy Back program with the Newport News Police Department.
