The Final Countdown? The Decline of Sam Huff and Redskins Radio

Interesting article on Redskins Radio in it's current state. On Sundays, it's hard to even figure out which station to catch the Skins games on lately. It seemed Redskins owner Daniel Snyder kept moving them all over the radio dial since he became owner of the team and even leading and into his Red Zebra Broadcasting deal. It seemed the Snyder deal with the different stations never quite found a successful home on the FM side that pleased all the listeners and fans because of coverage problems.

From what I have read, Redskins Radio also has "Mike & Mike" The John Riggins show and the Coach Joe Gibbs show. I will be checking them out to hear Riggins and Gibbs' shows becuase who doesn't love John Riggins and Coach Gibbs? Gibbs, whether or not the Redskins are winning or losing, I always have to stop what I'm doing and listen to what he says.

I am actually glad at least Sam Huff and Sonny Jurgensen are still on the air together but I think it was a mistake to let Frank Herzog go. Big Mistake! Nothing can beat that chemistry of "Sonny, Sam and Frank." Frank Herzog can now be heard on WTOP and even though its nice to hear him do news, there's just nothing like hearing him do sports and that Redskins coverage.

I used to literally turn down the volume of the TV during Redskins games and turn the volume up on my radio to hear Sonny, Sam and Frank because they had the best commentary on the games. I don't find myself doing that anymore unless it's just to hear Sonny and/or Sam together. But Herzog added that 3rd element that to me is just unreplaceable. It was magic.

I had to even doublecheck to see exactly where are the Redskins games aired on the radio before I posted this! The last time I checked they were on 94.3 but getting coverage was always a problem for me.

The games can now be heard on Redskins Radio: www.xxxespnradio.com AKA "The New 94.3 92.7 730 ESPN RADIO Home of The Redskins" and also Big 100.3.

I agree Frank is a true loss to the area and the Redskins broadcast. This shows the real colors of Dan Snyder, if he would put his money into more traditional efforts than a losing team maybe spirits would be higher for us the fans.
