Problems deepen in South Sudan - 09 May 09

Thousands of people have been displaced by violence in southern Sudan.

John Holmes, the UN's under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs, says people there cannot afford further conflict as the semi-autonomous region is still recovering from 20 years of civil war that ended only in 2005.

Al Jazeera's Mohamed Vall visits Akobo with Holmes and talks to some of the refugees there.
