Raw Video: Steele Becomes RNC Chairman - Becomes The First African-American To Lead The GOP

Michael Steele was elected Republican National Committee chairman on Friday, defeating the incumbent party chief and three other challengers over six rounds of voting to become the first African-American to lead the GOP. (Jan. 30)

My initial reaction to this story was "Interesting timing." My second reaction to this story was "Do you think Michael Steele has President Barack Obama to thank for this?" Once again, timing. Another way of looking at it is, if Obama had not won this go round, do you think the RNC would have still chosen Steele at this moment, at this time? Is the GOP trying to bring more African-Americans into the Republican Party? What say you?

The timing is very interesting and suspect at the same time. Steele does have Barack Obama to thank for his own historic ascent to the chairmanship, but instead, he assailed the president's positions and fired the entire staff. Did you hear about the investigation underway involving his mishandling of campaign funds? Now, that has the potential to get really ugly.

Good comment, Janet. I had not heard the latter. I will have to check that out in Sunday's Post. Thanks for posting! Excellent blog you have! Peace and Blessings.
