WDCB is very pleased to present Chuck Schaden's “Those Were the Days,” a program that has played a prominent role in Chicago’s radio history for more than 35 years. Drawing from his vast library of material each Saturday, Chuck presents old-time radio classics and music.

Our Miss Brooks (December 12th, 1950) Eve Arden stars as Connie Brooks, with Gale Gordon as Mr. Conklin, who has put Miss Brooks in charge of the Christmas Clothing Drive for the needy. Cast: Richard Crenna, Jeff Chandler, Gloria McMillian, Jane Morgan, Parley Baer. Colgate products, CBS. (30 min)

Terry And The Pirates (December 25th, 1946) Isolated episode, presented in rhyme. A nervous Terry prepares for and delivers a radio message to his Uncle Sam, introducing all the characters on the show and extending Christmas greetings to listeners. Quaker Puffed Wheat Sparkies, ABC. (15 min)

Contented Hour (December 20th, 1948) Buddy Clark presents a program of Christmas music and entertainment featuring the Ken Darby Singers, Ted Dale and the orchestra and announcer Jimmy Wallington. Selections include "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," "Silent Night," "Winter Wonderland," "Twas the Night Before Christmas," and "White Christmas." Carnation Evaporated Milk, NBC. (30 min)

Calling All Cars (December 25th, 1934) "The Human Side of a Cop." A Christmas Day dramatization of stories of how police officers are not always confronted by lawbreakers, but how they also come to the aid of citizens in need. The dispatcher sends a bulletin describing "a short, fat man dressed in a red suit trimmed with white fur; ruddy complexion; white beard; twinkling blue eyes. Suspect seen climbing down chimney with a sack over his shoulder." Charles Frederick Lindsey narrates. Rio Grande Oil, CBS. (29 min)
