WDCB is very pleased to present Chuck Schaden's “Those Were the Days,” a program that has played a prominent role in Chicago’s radio history for more than 35 years. Drawing from his vast library of material each Saturday, Chuck presents old-time radio classics and music.

Jack Benny Program (December 11th, 1938) To complete his Christmas shopping, Jack and Mary go to the department store. Cast: Phil Harris, Eddie "Rochester" Anderson, Don Wilson, John Brown, Charlie Cantor, Jell-O, NBC. (30 min)

Jeff Regan, Investigator (December 21st, 1949) "Some Enchanted Carhop." Frank Graham stars as Regan, the Lyon's Eye," with Frank Nelson as detective Anthony J. Lyon. At Christmastime, Regan tries to find the person who is sending a series of gifts to a young woman who works at a drive-in restaurant. Sustaining, CBS. (29 min)

Jill's All-Time Jukebox (December 25th, 1946) G.I. Jill presents a special post-war Christmas edition of her show. She remembers holiday events of the past and plays the songs that were popular at Christmastime through the 1940s. AFRS. (30 min)

Archie Andrews (December 13th, 1947) Bob Hastings stars as Archie with Harlan Stone as Jughead. Stacy's Department Store won't be the same after this Christmas shopping mix-up when the floorwalker accuses Archie and his Father of shoplifting. Challenge of The Yukon (December 23rd, 1949) "The Sergeant's Present" stars Paul Sutton as Sgt. Preston. A "Yukon" version of Dickens' A Christmas Carol." The owner of the Nicholas Mining Company is unforgiving when he learns his chief clerk has taken money from the company to pay for medicine for his young daughter. John Nicholas orders a reluctant Sgt. Preston to arrest the clerk. Quaker Cereals, ABC. (29 min)

Kate Smith Show (December 24th, 1944) Kate presents the Aldrich Family in a Christmas sketch featuring Dick Jones as Henry and Jackie Kelk as Homer. Henry has lost the watch his Aunt Harriet gave him for Christmas. Also: Kate welcomes comedian Jackie Gleason who offers some impersonations and tells about his love affair with a Juke Box.
