Karibu Books Closing

Speaking of books that I must pick up...

I was saddened to hear the news last night that Karibu Books is closing all six of their stores in the D.C./MD/VA area. What a shocking blow this is to me as this was one of my favorite bookstores I frequented.

A letter from CEO and co-founder of Karibu Books, Brother Simba Sana to the Karibu customers can be found on the main website: Karibu Books.

Brother Simba Sana was also a guest on The Kojo Nmamdi Show on Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008 discussing the closing of all 6 Karibu Bookstores.

I'm sure they owners will be able to restructure. However, I wonder if they would have been able to sustain if they only maintained one store.

Yes, NickyJett. Fox5DC reported Sunday night that some of the Karibu managers may start their own black themed bookstores after the February 10th closings. This is a definite "to be continued" story that a lot of people will be watching to see what happens.
