Happy Birthday, Teddy Pendergrass!

I always remember this pic they used for his album cover Teddy Pendergrass - Live Coast To Coast 1979. That image stayed with me for years aside from his incredible voice and incredible albums.

Theodore DeReese Pendergrass, Sr. was born on this day, March 26, 1950 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Affectionately known as 'Teddy P', "TP", or "Teddy Bear".

Teddy Pendergrass became a lead singer for Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes and pursued an active solo career interrupted by an auto accident in March of 1982 that left him paralyzed from the chest down.

This commenarative event is a celebration of Teddy's 25th year of disability and will honor all the individuals who've been instrumental in his life. The event will be held at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia and proceeds will be donated to the Teddy Pendergrass Alliance.
