Happy Birthday to Horace Silver born on this day in 1928 in Norway, Connecticut. Horace Silver became a Jazz pianist, bandleader and composer who initially lead the Jazz Messengers with Art Blakey before forming his own band in 1956. Horace Silver is considered a pioneer of the Hard Bop style. He attracted to his band the talents of Art Farmer, Donald Byrd, and Blue Mitchell, Billy Cobham, among many others.
