Bryant's Gumbel's last day on The Today Show was January 3rd, 1997 which was also on a Friday, like today. I was working at news station wtop when I saw this live on the monitors. I was actually just getting off my shift, on my way out the door and stayed to watch this. Guess who decided to drop by after hearing he had a big fan? This was a great morning.
