On this day in 1990, Devil in a Blue Dress, a mystery novel by Walter Mosley set in South-Central Los Angeles, was published. Its realism and strong African-American characters earned Walter Mosley enthusiastic praise and a nomination for Best Novel by the Mystery Writers of America.
In 1995, it was turned into a major motion picture starring Denzel Washington, Don Cheadle and Jennifer Beals.
One of my favorite books and movies of all time. Denzel and Cheadle knocked those roles out!
