The Washington Nationals

I was never a big baseball fan but I am so glad and happy DC now has a team again. washingtonnationals

I was too young to really experience The Senators but I do remember their name and some of the stories and even sitting with both my Grandfathers in DC and Philly growing up back in the day, and watching The Orioles and The Phillys games together some Summer days. I did collect the old baseball cards though! I remember that was fun.

During the Summer of '79 when our Mom went to Africa for a teaching program, we stayed with our Aunt, Uncle and Cousins in Los Angeles in their beautiful home. While we were out there, our Uncle took all us kids to see an LA Dodgers Game. That was so fun! I always thought the Dodgers were cool. This was my first time seeing a real professional baseball game in person. We had a great time in LA that summer. Michael Jackson's Off The Wall was just coming out, My Sharona was rockin on the radio, and Alex Haley's Roots book was in all the stores. A post on my sister and I's time in LA will be coming up soon. I still remember those palm trees.

Remember Reggie Jackson? Remember the Reggie Jackson candy bars and commercials?

But deep down inside I always wanted a DC Team to celebrate, even up to my present age.

How can The Nation's Capitol not have a baseball team? Does that make sense? LOL.

The new stadium deal is still controversial and so is the way that DC had to get this team. All the ups and downs, the stops and go's. But ultimately, I am glad we finally have a team and now finally a new owner.

The Nationals' presence in DC playing at the old RFK Stadium has actually gotten me interested in baseball on a whole different level.

I find myself tuning into the TV and Radio Game Broadcasts more and more.

Hope to attend some games soon.

Go, Nats!
